The math (open)

refund = returned × price
reverseCost = returned × reverseFee
unsellable = returned × 15% × COGS
returnLoss = refund + reverseCost + unsellable
lossPercent = returnLoss / (sold × price) × 100

We assume 15% of returned units come back unsellable — industry typical (varies 8–22% by category).

Common questions

Why is the unsellable-rate set to 15%?

Industry benchmark across most FBA categories. Apparel/footwear runs higher (18–22%); electronics lower (8–12%). The calculator uses 15% as a sensible default. For your real number, check FBA Returns Report → Disposition column.

Does Seller Central tell me my return loss?

Partially. It shows refunds and return-fee reversals, but never multiplies by unsellable-rate × COGS. Most sellers under-count true loss by 30–50% as a result.

How does this affect Break-Even ACOS?

Returns shrink your effective margin. A SKU with a 32% BE-ACOS on paper drops to ~28% after an 8% return rate with 15% unsellable. The Return Loss + BE-ACOS combo is the most under-monitored pair in Amazon ads.
